Tom Ross Williams speaks to FTL Members at Battersea meeting in January
We were delighted to welcome Tom Ross-Williams as our speaker on the 13th January. He is an Actor and came to speak to us openly about his life as a queer man, both personal and professional. He has an amazing website and I do suggest you click onto it and watch his showreel. Such versatility. He recently had a spectacular run at The Royal Exchange in Manchester with the play JUBILEE which transferred to the Lyric, Hammersmith in February.
He spoke generously about his coming out, his sexual orientation and the meaning of Q in LGBTQ. He wants to be known as Queer and apparently this description is no longer considered to be incorrect. Tom is an activist and goes into schools speaking about gender equality. This is a young man, full of talent and wanting to make a difference in the world of LGBTQ. Tom made a point of coming early so that he was able to speak to as many of our group as possible before his talk and what became a very enthusiastic Q and A session and he stayed on to continue chatting to our members. He was a great hit and I am glad to say that we had an audience of nearly 20 members to make his trip worthwhile.
